Women’s basketball head coach Jennifer Rizzotti, an assistant coach for the USA Basketball Women’s National Team, said the Olympic team will take their extra year before the Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2021 to double down on training.

Women’s basketball resumed team activities five days after announcing that a member of the team’s traveling party tested positive for COVID-19, according to a tweet Tuesday.

A member of the team’s traveling party tested positive, pausing all team activities Thursday and postponing road games at Massachusetts Friday and Rhode Island Sunday. The team completed additional contact tracing and testing prior to returning to practice, a release states.

“We have resumed team activities and look forward to getting back on the court,” the tweet states.

GW has postponed a total of four games this season, with three yet to be rescheduled. The Colonials (4-12, 1-9 A-10) have five games remaining on its schedule, all of which are at home. The squad will play its next four games from Feb. 12 to 20.

The Colonials will be back in action Friday at the Smith Center to take on Duquesne. Tipoff is slated for 5 p.m.
