Crime log: Male student reports threatening phone calls extorting him for money

A female student reported to the GW Police Department that an unknown subject asked her for money, grabbed her waist and pushed her. GWPD recommended that she also file a report with the Metropolitan Police Department.

District House

GWPD and housing administrators responded to District House to conduct an administrative search. Officers found alcohol, drugs, drug paraphernalia and a switchblade.

A female student reported to GWPD that an unknown male subject verbally harassed her while she was walking in front of the Marvin Center. There is limited information about the comments.

Threats to do Bodily Harm/Extortion

A male student reported to GWPD that an unknown man called him on his cellphone and made threats extorting him for money. GWPD tracked the caller’s location and made contact with the Stonington Police Department in Connecticut, the local authority, and transferred the case to them for further investigation. There are limited details about any follow up.

Traffic Accident: DUI/DWI

GWPD responded to a report of a traffic accident in front of Mitchell Hall. Officers arriving on the scene found that a female unaffiliated with the University crashed her car into another parked car and was injured and sitting in her vehicle. D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services arrived, assessed the subject and found that she was intoxicated. MPD responded to the scene and arrested her for driving while intoxicated.

– Subject arrested.

A male faculty member reported that an unknown subject sent multiple unwanted emails to his GW-issued email address. There is limited information about the content of the emails.

– No identifiable suspect.

GWPD received a report from a male student that an unknown suspect stole his iPhone 6 from the court while he was playing basketball.

– No suspects or witnesses.

Liquor Law Violation

Closed Case

GWPD responded to a report of an intoxicated female student. EMeRG assessed the student and transported her to GW Hospital for further evaluation.
