From local GW food influencers to local D.C. news outlets, give these accounts a follow to stay in the loop about the latest news in the District this year.

From the Smithsonian Institution to restaurants hidden in unassuming alleys, the District’s reach is endless when it comes to both famous landmarks and hidden gems.

Luckily, social media accounts within the DMV have made it easy to scout out essential eateries, activities and general news to keep you in the know around the area. As you return to campus this fall, check out this list of handles for that next brunch spot, weekend adventure or local headline.

For food and drink:
@dcfoodgod is brought to you by D.C. natives who grew up going to the best spots in the city. The owners offer a holistic view of the D.C. dining scene, highlighting D.C.’s rich culture and fostering the local community. The account will satisfy the cravings of those looking for tastes from around the world without leaving the DMV.

@danieatsdc is a GW senior who visits the best local eateries including restaurants, cafes and ice cream shops. Her occasional food and gift card giveaways are reason enough to check out her Instagram account.

@dmvfoodfinds is always the first to feature new restaurants opening in the DMV. Account owner Maddie Smith has all of the best happy hour deals and hidden speakeasies for students to enjoy. From Georgetown to U Street, she offers food and drink options for all of our favorite D.C. neighborhoods.
