In the late afternoon, you’ll see students enjoying golden hour, maybe tossing around a frisbee or laid out on blankets across the grass.

Readers’ pick: Tables in Kogan

As the colder days come to an end, finding the right study spot to soak up the sunlight is as essential as ever. Although there are lots of spots to choose from, the University Yard swing booths are a coveted location for their view and comfort.

Lounge in the serene booths of U-Yard for the traditional university atmosphere of a quad that GW otherwise lacks. The brick exterior of Corcoran Hall, Bell Hall and Lisner Hall surround the yard give a classic academic feel that is unmatched at other campus study spots.

U-Yard features just two of these swing booths that sit adjacent to Corcoran Hall on the west side of U-Yard. These coveted swinging tables with a cover over top for shade have padded seating and a table that fits about six people. These booths are great for a group study session or a lunch break with some friends.

During the day, you’ll be surrounded by students walking from place to place along the quad’s iconic intersecting brick pathways, picnicking in the grass or reading on a bench as the sun hits all corners of the yard.

And in the late afternoon, you’ll see students enjoying golden hour, maybe tossing around a frisbee or laid out on blankets across the grass. As the sun sets, the flow of students through the yard stops, and you’d be met with a much quieter study spot if you’re looking for complete focus.

The study spot is also central to campus, situated near multiple academic buildings, the University Student Center and Kogan Plaza. If you find yourself tired from studying, head to Uptowner Cafe in Lisner for a coffee or head to Western Market for a quick bite to eat. Any restrooms, water fountains or GW printing kiosks can also be found in either Corcoran or Lisner Hall.

The next time you’re looking for a great outdoor study spot, head over to the U-Yard swing booths for the perfect balance of bustling and peace.
