Palestine Legal had sent the complaint to officials Nov. 8 on behalf of an employee from the Office of Advocacy and Support.

Students gathered in Kogan Plaza Friday to protest the administration after a complaint was filed with D.C.’s Office of Civil Rights claiming administrators ordered the Office of Advocacy and Support to cancel programming aimed at Palestinian students in the wake of outbreaks of violence in Gaza over the summer.

The complaint, which was filed by the Palestinian rights advocacy organization, included details alleging administrators called an emergency meeting to instruct the Office of Advocacy and Support to take down promotion for a “virtual processing space” event for Palestinian students, in the wake of heightened violence in Gaza.

The complaint also states that University officials at the emergency meeting expressed intent to conduct an audit of the OAS, and asked the office to release a formal apology in light of the situation.
