The men’s basketball program recorded multiple weekly awards from the Atlantic 10 on Monday.

Senior guard James Bishop was named the A-10 Co-Player of the week for the second time in the 2022-23 season, and redshirt freshman forward Maximus Edwards reclaimed the A-10 rookie of the week award for the third time.

Bishop, the conference’s leading scorer, is now sixth in the country in scoring, averaging 21.9 points per game. He totaled 19 points against George Mason while also tying his season-best assist total with eight, in addition to scoring 27 points against Dayton on 10-of-19 shooting while dishing out seven assists.

Edwards became the first Colonial to earn the A-10 Rookie of the Week for a third time since the 2009-10 season with Lasan Kromah. In GW’s recent wins, Edwards averaged 14.5 points per game, 6 rebounds on 50 percent shooting from the floor while hitting 3-of-3 from beyond the arc.

Edwards scored 14 points on 5-of-10 shooting with six boards against George Mason on Monday, adding a trio of 3-pointers. He is now the lone A-10 rookie to average double figures this season with 10.7 points per game.

Edwards is also ranked second amongst A-10 freshman in rebounding, pulling down 5.7 boards per game.
