Rep. Debbie Dingell, D-Mich., will remain in the GW Hospital for five to seven days as she recovers, the Detroit Free Press reported.

Rep. Debbie Dingell, D-Mich., underwent emergency surgery for a perforated ulcer at the GW Hospital Friday, the Detroit Free Press reported.

The Michigan representative will remain in GW Hospital for five to seven days as she recovers, according to the Free Press. The Free Press reported that Dingell had a stomachache earlier in the week, which worsened until she was hospitalized Friday.

“The procedure was successful, and she is recovering well,” Dingell’s spokesperson, Mackenzie Smith, said in a statement last week. “For the next few days she will be recovering at the hospital.”

GW Hospital spokesperson Susan Griffiths did not return a request for comment.
