Crime log: GWPD officer stops student from stealing his bicycle

GW Police Department officers observed alcohol in plain view in a male student’s room while conducting a welfare check with the area coordinator. The alcohol was disposed of on scene.

Theft I/Bicycles

Potomac House
2/28/2021 – 2:17 a.m.
Closed Case

A male student stole a GWPD bicycle from the Potomac House lobby. Shortly after, a GWPD officer retrieved the bicycle as he was coming out of the elevator and the male student was trying to enter the elevator.

Simple Assault

University Mall
3/1/2021 – 4:55 p.m.

A female staff member reported that an unknown male subject spit on her while passing by her. GWPD officers canvassed the area with negative findings.

Traffic Accident: Hit and Run

A non-GW affiliated woman reported finding scratches on the driver’s side rear end of her vehicle following a hit and run accident.

District House
3/4/2021 – 8:48 p.m.
Open Case

A male staff member reported a suspicious male subject on the ground floor of District House. GWPD officers responded to the area, but the subject had already left the area. After further investigation, officers discovered that the subject had been previously barred from GW’s campus.
