Class of 2025 forward verbally commits to men’s basketball program

Daniel Nixon, a 6-foot-7-inch forward from New York City, verbally committed to the men’s basketball program, according to a tweet Wednesday.

Nixon joins Tafara Gapare and Brayon Freeman as head coach Jamion Christian’s newest recruiting additions. Nixon played at The Hill School in Pennsylvania before transferring to Winston Salem Christian School in North Carolina for his senior campaign.

Nixon thanked his family members and current and former coaches in a tweet for supporting him and helping him hone his basketball skills.

“Thank you to all the schools and coaches that have recruited me,” he said. “With that being said, I will be committing to George Washington University.”

He earned First Team Mercury All-Area honors at the conclusion of his junior season at The Hill School. In his senior season at Winston Christian School, Nixon put up multiple double-digit scoring performances. He is ranked No. 51 among small forwards for the graduating Class of 2021, according to 247Sports.

In addition to GW, he fielded offers from Georgetown, Iowa, Ole Miss, Tulane and East Carolina, among other schools.

The Colonials (2-6) have seen three players – senior guard Maceo Jack, senior forward Ace Stallings and sophomore guard Jameer Nelson Jr. – transfer from the program after the team’s nonconference slate concluded Dec. 22.

GW is back in action against Duquesne Saturday. Tipoff is scheduled for 12:30 p.m.
