Man previously banned from campus arrested for unlawful entry outside Mitchell Hall

A GW Police Department officer arrested a man outside Mitchell Hall Wednesday after the suspect had been previously banned from campus, according to a Metropolitan Police Department report.

GWPD officer Nathan Hoffer arrested the man identified as “Taylor” in the MPD report at the corner of 19th and E streets at 8:05 p.m. Wednesday, 10 minutes after he saw him walk into the 7-Eleven next to Mitchell Hall, according to the report. The report states Hoffer told Taylor he was under arrest at the store and ordered him to stop, but Taylor exited the building and continued to walk down 19th Street before Hoffer arrested him minutes later.

MPD officers charged Taylor with unlawful entry, according to the report. The report states Hoffer was in uniform and searched Taylor as he arrested him.

A GWPD spokesperson did not return a request for comment. The report did not specify why Taylor was previously banned from campus.
