Men's basketball head coach Jamion Christian, who proposed the tournament, wrapped up his first season with the team last fall.

Men’s basketball is organizing a holiday tournament for next season featuring minority head coaches, college basketball insider Jon Rothstein tweeted Friday and an athletic department spokesperson confirmed Monday.

Athletic department spokesman Brian Sereno said head coach Jamion Christian thought of the idea for the tournament, and it is currently in the scheduling and planning process.

The Smith Center is the expected site of the tournament, but details are still being ironed out, Sereno said.
