Officials said the patient who was refused testing at the GW Hospital did not fit the criteria for testing.

A person assaulted a police officer at the GW Hospital Sunday, according to a Metropolitan Police Department report.

The report states that the suspect entered the hospital Sunday and began arguing with hospital staff over “medical treatment” at 9:24 a.m. The suspect soon entered a “physical altercation” with Jeremiah Justice Richardson and Samuel Geddies, and MPD classified the incident as a simple assault, according to the report.

Officers charged the suspect with assault on a police officer and contempt in violation of the condition of release, the report states.

Another person at the hospital witnessed the crime on a security camera, and MPD officers activated their body cameras at the scene, according to the report. The report does not specify which of the two victims are police officers.

Officers Kwaku Agyeman and Maximilian Park responded to the scene following the incident, according to the report. The report states officers arrested the suspect at 12:30 p.m.

A public affairs specialist for MPD declined to comment.
