MPD arrests man for possessing controlled substances

Metropolitan Police Department officers arrested a man outside of the GW Hospital Wednesday for possessing controlled substances, according to an MPD report.

At about 6:20 p.m., an MPD officer made contact with a man who was found to be in possession of controlled substances, the report states. The officer recovered five substances from the man, including a “white rock-like substance” and a “pint bottle of Promethazine syrup,” according to the report. The officer also recovered $26.25 cash, the report states.

After conducting a “thorough investigation,” MPD officers placed Joevanta Ramsey, 19, under arrest, according to the report.

Ramsey could not be reached for comment.
