Crime log: Student arrested after destroying front door of Mitchell Hall

Destroying/Defacing Structure, Disorderly Conduct/Intoxication

GW Police Department officers responded to a report of a male student kicking the front door of Mitchell Hall, attempting to gain access to the building. Upon arrival, GWPD officers discovered that the student destroyed the door. EMeRG workers arrived on scene to conduct a medical assessment of the subject, but he was uncooperative. GWPD placed the student under arrest. Metropolitan Police Department officers arrived on scene and transported him to the Second District police station.

Unlawful Entry

The Dakota

GWPD officers responded to a report of an unknown female subject refusing to leave The Dakota. The woman entered the building without authorized access and entered someone’s room, according to an MPD report. GWPD issued her a bar notice and arrested her. MPD officers responded to the scene, issued a report and transported the subject to the Second District police station.

Threats in a Menacing Manner, Liquor Law Violation

GWPD officers responded to a report of a female student who made threatening remarks via Snapchat while intoxicated. University President Thomas LeBlanc released a statement Wednesday condemning what he called an “abhorrent” video in which a student is heard saying anti-Semitic comments and threatening to bomb Israel.

Simple Assault (Domestic Violence)

A male student reported that his roommate assaulted him. GWPD arrested the roommate, and MPD transported him to the Second District police station for processing. The MPD report for the incident states that officers responded to the eighth floor of Thurston Hall a report for a simple assault that occurred Sept. 2. The officers arrested a student for simple assault domestic violence, the MPD report states.

Blackmail

Clark Hall (Mount Vernon Campus)

A male student reported that an unknown male subject he met on social media blackmailed him. The student told MPD officers he received a Facebook message from a man he did not know. The man was using fake pictures and asked the student to Facetime so they could talk more, according to an MPD report. During the Facetime, the man took screen shots of the student’s face and photo shopped his face onto a naked picture, the report states. The man said that he would send the pictures to other students and people associated with the student if the student did not send him $1,000, according to the report.

GWPD officers responded to a report of a male subject sleeping in the Marvin Center. Officers discovered that the man had been previously barred from the University. GWPD issued the subject a new bar notice and escorted him out of the building.

A male staff member reported that an unknown male subject stalked him through multiple social media outlets.

Panhandling

A male student reported that an unknown male subject was panhandling in the courtyard outside of Funger Hall. GWPD made contact with the subject, issued him a bar notice and escorted him off of the property.
