A congresswoman representing D.C. added her name to a growing list of House Democrats demanding impeachment proceedings against President Donald Trump, The Washington Post reported Wednesday.

Rep. Eleanor Holmes Norton, D-D.C. said members of Congress are “virtually mandated” to begin an impeachment inquiry after last week’s testimony from former special counsel Robert S. Mueller III, who said Trump could be charged with obstruction of justice after he leaves office. A majority of House Democrats supported an impeachment inquiry as of Friday, according to The Post.

“An impeachment inquiry is necessary to obtain all the information required to make a responsible decision on filing Articles of Impeachment,” Norton said in a statement.

Rep. Jennifer Wexton, who represents Virginia’s 10th congressional district, also endorsed an impeachment inquiry. She said Mueller’s report and testimony has demonstrated Trump’s “flagrant disregard of lawful congressional oversight,” The Post reported.

“I cannot sit idly by while the pillars of our democracy are chipped away,” Wexton told The Post.
