Individuals steal wallet, phone in two on-campus robberies

Updated: July 31, 2019 at 12:46 p.m.

Two robberies occurred on campus Sunday, according to Metropolitan Police Department reports.

A paramedic reported to MPD that another man pushed him twice in the back, stole his wallet and fled the scene outside the GW Hospital at about 2:40 p.m. The report states that the subject – named Davis Lucas by an MPD spokeswoman – was “stopped, positively identified and placed under arrest for robbery.”

The paramedic retrieved his wallet from a passerby after Lucas dropped the wallet and ran into the hospital, The Washington Post reported. MPD officers later observed Lucas receiving medical treatment on a stretcher in the hospital’s emergency room, The Post reported.

In a separate incident, a man reported to MPD that two people stole his iPhone at about 8:40 p.m outside of the Jefferson Building. The man reported that he was looking for directions on his phone when two people approached him on a motorcycle and snatched his phone.

The subjects fled southbound on 24th Street, the report states.

The cases are open.
