Lacrosse extends academic honor roll streak

Lacrosse was named to the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association Division I Academic Honor Squad, according to a press release Wednesday.

The Colonials continued their 13-year streak of earning the award, upping their academic honor nominations to 15 of its last 16 seasons.

To earn a spot on the honor roll, a program needs a combined 3.0 or higher grade point average. The Colonials nabbed a collective GPA of 3.04.

GW was among 101 Division I teams recognized and was one of seven Atlantic 10 teams to receive the honor. Davidson, George Mason, La Salle, Saint Joseph’s, Richmond and VCU also earned Academic Honor Squad status.

The Colonials will be under new leadership for the 2020 season. Jennifer Ulehla will take over the program and bring more than a decade of coaching experience to a team returning all 29 players.

Former head coach Tracy Coyne resigned at the close of the 2019 season after mustering a 27–56 record over her five years with the program. Last season, the squad earned its best conference showing in four years but narrowly missed postseason play for the sixth consecutive year.
