Woman arrested for assaulting man, MPD officer at GW Ambulatory Care Center

A woman was arrested for assault after attacking a man and a Metropolitan Police Department officer Thursday, according to an MPD report.

At approximately 8:31 a.m., the woman entered the GW Ambulatory Care Center at 2150 Pennsylvania Ave. and jabbed a five-foot-long wooden stick at a man’s head while yelling profanities at him. The woman then fled the scene and was stopped by an MPD officer about one block away, the report states.

When stopped, the woman struck the MPD officer in the head with an open hand, but the officer was not injured, according to the report.

A criminal history record check revealed that the woman had a misdemeanor bench warrant in the D.C. Superior Court. The woman was arrested for assault with a dangerous weapon, assault on a police officer and failure to appear, the report states.
