Residents gather in Dupont Circle for vigil honoring LGBTQ hate crime victim

A vigil was held for Matthew Shepard, an openly gay college student who was murdered in a hate crime 20 years ago, in Dupont Circle Thursday night.

The vigil was held on the eve of a memorial service held for Shepard at the Washington National Cathedral where his ashes were interred.
