Crime log: Suspect threatens student on fake Instagram account

A male student reported to the GW Police Department that an unknown male subject attempted to steal his cellphone from his back pocket outside of Strong Hall. GWPD and Metropolitan Police Department officers searched the surrounding area but were not able to locate the subject.

A female student reported to GWPD that she received calls from an unidentified phone number. There is limited information.

– No identifiable suspect.

Threats to do Bodily Harm

A female student reported to GWPD that an unidentified subject created a fraudulent Instagram account registered to her name without her knowledge. The suspect posted a threatening message and a photo of the student on the fraudulent account.

– Referred to MPD.

Drug Law Violation/Liquor Law Violation

GWPD responded to a health and safety inspector’s report of drug paraphernalia in plain view. An administrative search yielded drugs, drug paraphernalia and alcohol.

Theft II/From Building

A female staff member reported to GWPD that a female subject unaffiliated with the University stole food from an event in the Grand Ballroom. Officers issued the woman a bar notice and escorted her out of the building.

– Subject barred.

Simple Assault, Panhandling

A female student reported that an unknown male subject approached her from behind and grabbed her by her shoulders outside of Whole Foods. The subject repeatedly asked her for money.

– No identifiable suspect.

Traffic Accident: Hit and Run

10/8/2018 – 12:40 p.m.

A male staff member reported to GWPD that he was working in his office in Building YY when he heard a bang and saw a vehicle drive away. Upon further investigation, he realized a vehicle struck the exterior wall of the building and left a dent in the south side of the building. The car was gone by the time GWPD had arrived.

– No suspects or witnesses.

Public Drunkenness

Closed Case

GWPD responded to a report of three intoxicated individuals and made contact with only one non-GW affiliated male. D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel evaluated the individual and transported him to the GW Hospital for further evaluation.

– No further action.
