The Hatchet named national finalist for online college journalism award

The Associated Collegiate Press has selected The Hatchet as a finalist for best online college newspaper.

The Hatchet is one of 24 online student newspapers named finalists in the online Pacemaker competition, ACP announced Tuesday. The work considered for the award is from The Hatchet’s 114th volume.

The competition garnered more than 100 entries from colleges and universities across the country. Finalists represent 16 states and D.C.

A group of judges made up of digital media professionals and professors considered the website and content to select finalists. “Deep and diverse coverage with strong engagement and interactivity” set finalists apart, according to the release.

Winners will be announced at ACP’s national convention Oct. 25 through 28 in Louisville, Ky.
