Water polo adds former All-American to coaching staff

Kevin Le Vine will serve as an assistant coach for the men’s and women’s water polo programs, head coach Barry King announced in a release Tuesday.

Prior to coming to GW, Le Vine was an assistant coach with Contra Costa United Water Polo, a youth water polo club in California, where he coached the squad’s goalkeepers and helped lead its U-16 and U-18 Junior Olympics teams.

“I’m extremely honored to be a part of this program,” Le Vine said in the release. “Barry has made a great change in his first year at GW, and I’m looking forward to contributing to the continued growth here in any way that I can.”

Le Vine is a former All-American goalkeeper for California’s men’s water polo team, where he helped the Golden Bears to a national title in 2016. As a senior, Le Vine averaged 11.49 saves per game, and tallied a total of 31 steals and 22 assists on the year.

“I’m really excited to have Kevin join us at GW,” King said. “His experience at the highest levels of the collegiate game is a tremendous asset to our program.”

The Colonials open their season on the road at the Navy Invitational Saturday and Sunday. The team returns 10 players – including five seniors – from last season’s squad.
