Six sexual assaults last week may be connected, police say

Police said six incidents of sexual assault that occurred in and around Foggy Bottom last week could be connected, The Washington Post reported Monday.

Three female victims were assaulted Thursday night in Georgetown and Foggy Bottom, and three more reported unwanted sexual contact Saturday night near Dupont Circle. Metropolitan Police Department officers said all six victims described their assailant as a male wearing a gray hooded shirt, according to The Post.

Two female victims reported unwanted contact Saturday at about 11 p.m. near 19th and Q streets NW. Roughly a half hour later, another victim was assaulted at 19th and R streets NW, The Post reported.

The three incidents on Thursday occurred at 34th and R streets NW, 37th Street and Winfield Lane NW, and 25th and I streets NW. No injuries were reported, according to The Post.

In the Winfield Lane incident, the assailant approached the victim from behind, reached under her skirt and grabbed her inner thigh, The Post reported.

Police said that during the incident at 25th and I streets – the only attack to occur in Foggy Bottom – the assailant approached the victim from behind and grabbed her buttocks through her clothing.
