MPD searching for man who stole $500 from on-campus Chipotle

Authorities are still searching for a male suspect who stole $500 Sunday from the Chipotle at The Shops at 2000 Penn, according to a Metropolitan Police Department report.

At about 3:15 p.m. on May 20, the suspect entered the restaurant, handed a note to the cashier saying he had a gun and demanded the cash from the register. The employee handed the suspect $500 in cash and he fled the scene, the report states.

At 3:41 p.m., an email from AlertDC told residents to be on the lookout for a black male with dreadlocks wearing red tennis shoes, blue pants, a black shirt and black sunglasses. The suspect was about 5 feet 6 inches tall and carried a black backpack, according to the email.

Residents were advised in the alert to not take action but to call 911 if they spotted the suspect.

An MPD press release sent to residents Monday night included surveillance footage of the suspect.

Crime Solvers of Washington, D.C. is offering a reward for up to $1,000 for anyone who can provide information leading to the suspect’s arrest or indictment, according to the press release.
