Weekend outlook – Drink wizard-inspired concoctions at Harry Potter bar crawl

This weekend, shop at a leisurely market in Georgetown or wear your Hogwarts house scarf to a Harry Potter-themed bar crawl. Then, catch a 9:30 Club show and sing every word to hit tunes.

Friday

Georgetown French Market

Embrace your inner francophile at the 15th annual Georgetown French Market. Visitors can immerse themselves in the culture of laissez faire, listening to jazz musicians and watching street performers from the French Navy juggle and paint faces. More than 40 shops on Wisconsin Avenue and P Street will participate in the festivities and offer sales up to 75 percent off. Some vendors truly embody the French theme – Bacchus Wine Cellar will sell six bottles of French wine for $50, and Washington Printmakers Gallery will stock their shelves with a special selection of “Euro-focused” art for the event.

Along Wisconsin Avenue from O Street to Reservoir Road. 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Free.

Saturday

D.C. Potter Crawl

Grab your broomstick and wands for this weekend’s D.C. Potter Crawl. On Saturday, Gryffindors and Slytherins alike will meet in Dupont Circle for a night of witchcraft and drinking. D.C. Potterheads will start their night at The Front Page and continue the magic at 10 participating bars around the District. Tickets come with with a complimentary souvenir mug, Potter-themed party favors and cover-free entrance to all participating bars. Specials for Potter Crawl participants include $2 Bud Lights, $3 rail drinks and $4 “Butterbeer” shots, along with discounts on bar food to take the edge off the firewhisky.

Registration at District Anchor, 1900 M St. NW. 2 to 5 p.m. Tickets are $30 online, $40 day of the event. 21+.

Sunday

Echosmith at 9:30 Club

If you want to be like the “Cool Kids,” you’ll want to make an appearance at Echosmith’s concert at 9:30 Club. The indie-pop act known for the double-platinum single is set to play tracks from their latest EP released last year, “Inside a Dream,” following their 2013 album “Talking Dreams.” Show up early for a sampling of other pop offerings from opening acts Jena Rose and The Score. Whether you only know the hits, or are a die hard fan of Echosmith’s music, you won’t regret catching this vibrant set.
