A northeast D.C. man was arrested Thursday in connection with a January shooting near GW Hospital, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
Members of a fugitive task force arrested Earl Barnes, 26, who allegedly shot another man Jan 9. on 23rd Street near the hospital, according to an MPD release. He was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon.
Barnes allegedly brandished a gun during an argument with the victim around 7:40 p.m. and opened fire before fleeing the scene. The victim sought treatment for non-life threatening injuries, according to the release.
GW Hospital was briefly put on lockdown after the incident and GW security officials warned community members to avoid the area.
