About 100 people gathered at the White House Friday to sing “Africa” and raise money for clean water in Africa.

Freshmen Joanna Chou and Jaskeerat Mann started an event on Facebook titled “Sing Africa by Toto at the White House.” After the Facebook event gained popularity, Chou and Mann joined forces with The Water Project, an international nonprofit organization that helps provide clean water and proper sanitation to people in sub-Saharan Africa, to turn the event into a fundraiser.

The two said they raised more than $2,000 and as a result, about 70 people in Africa will get clean water from their donations.
