MPD officers blocked off I Street in between 23rd Street and Pennsylvania Avenue for an investigation.

City police officers blocked off a portion of 23rd Street between I Street and Pennsylvania Avenue Tuesday evening while they investigated a threat, a Metropolitan Police Department spokesman said.

MPD spokesman Sean Hickman said the area was clear and nothing suspicious was found.

He said no further details were immediately available.

A University alert, sent out at 6:10 p.m., advised students to avoid the area, while MPD and police dogs conducted the investigation.

The street was reopened shortly after 6:30 p.m.
