Weekend outlook

Ease your way into the weekend with a mellow concert, then finish it off with an adrenaline-pumping 5K run.

Friday

Leela James and Daley

Kick off your weekend with a concert headlined by two talented singer-songwriters. Leela James’ soulful vocals will be showcased alongside Daley, a British recording artist and songwriter, at the D.C. stop of their  nationwide tour. James is known for her R&B style and deep, rich voice. Daley is known for his mellow jam sessions that will fill Warner Theatre with a peaceful vibe and have you swaying to the music all night long.

Saturday

President Lincoln Assassination Anniversary – Walking Tour

Celebrate the historic life of President Abraham Lincoln on the anniversary of his assassination with a walking tour that revisits all the pieces of that historical puzzle. Some of the designated stops include the location where Lincoln’s Secretary of State William Seward was stabbed, the site where Vice President Andrew Johnson was sworn as president, places where assassins and conspirators plotted against Lincoln and many more historical locations tied to the tragedy.

Meet beside Andrew Jackson statue in Lafayette Square, 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Noon. $20.

Southwest Waterfront Fireworks Festival

Finish your night with a bang at the Southwest Waterfront Fireworks Festival – an event that marks the end of the National Cherry Blossom Festival. The fireworks don’t begin until nightfall, but you can head down to the waterfront earlier for entertainment. There will be live musical performances and lawn games, as well as food from local food trucks and libations from the beer and cider garden starting at 2 p.m. If you can’t make it earlier in the day, grab a blanket and some friends and get ready for the fireworks show that kicks off at 8:30 p.m.

View fireworks near the Titanic Memorial at Southwest Waterfront Park. 2:30 to 8:30 p.m. Free.

Sunday
