Crime log – Starbucks worker reports customer threats

Public Property on Campus (Corner of 23rd and G streets NW)

Case closed

The University Police and Metropolitan Police departments responded to a report of a woman holding a knife outside of 23rd and G streets. MPD took possession of the knife, identified the individual as not being affiliated with GW and transported her to the hospital for an evaluation.

Referred to MPD.

A student reported to UPD that he left his cell phone by itself in a classroom, and when he returned 30 minutes later, the phone was missing. He did not want MPD notified, and the GPS indicated that the phone was outside 2150 Pennsylvania Ave.

No suspects or witnesses.

A staff member reported to UPD that a contractor entered and took multiple items from a privately leased space in the Lerner Health and Wellness Center.

A student reported to UPD that she was contacted by an unknown person who attempted to defraud her by posing as a federal agent. She was contacted at home and the person pretending to be a federal agent told her that she owed close to $10,000.

UPD responded to a report of a previously barred individual on campus property. UPD officers arrested the subject and transported the person to the Second District station.

A staff member reported to UPD that she was contacted by a person posing to be a federal agent demanding money.

No identifiable suspect.

Threats to do Bodily Harm

Gelman Library (Starbucks)

Case open

A Starbucks employee reported to UPD that a customer that she was familiar with entered the store and made an angry gesture and overt threats toward her. The female employee told officers that she and the female subject were involved in an ongoing dispute and prior to the incident, the subject had sent her threatening text messages. The employee was encouraged to follow a report with MPD and to follow up with UPD with her MPD report number.

A parking attendant told UPD that a patron exited the parking garage without paying his parking fee.
