Weekend Outlook

This weekend, enjoy the seasonably cold weather by taking advantage of winter activities and finishing off the weekend with a Super Bowl party.

Friday

Human Hungry Hippo On Ice

If you’re up for some once-in-a-lifetime fun with a crazy outdoor game, head to the Washington Capitals practice rink for a human-sized version of the game Hungry Hungry Hippos. During this ice-rink-rendition of the board game, players will skate from the corners of the ice to capture rubber balls in laundry baskets to earn points for their team. Sign up with a minimum of four people to create your own team or register as a free agent to make new friends on a team you are assigned.

Kettlers Capital Iceplex, 627 N. Glebe Road., Arlington, Va. 6:30 p.m. $19 per person or $60 for a team of four.

Saturday

Late Night Snow Tubing at Avalanche Xpress

If you’re craving the mountain air and fresh snow, spend a night outside the District at Avalanche Xpress in York, Pennsylvania. This trip is sponsored by D.C. Fray and starts with a pregame at Front Page in Arlington. Then, you’ll hop on a bus outside of the restaurant for a snowy night of tubing at Avalanche Xpress. Be sure to dress warm, as it will be especially chilly at night. Tickets include bus fare, tubing and snacks.

Front Page, 4201 Wilson Blvd, Arlington, Va. 5:30 p.m. pregame and 6:45 p.m. bus departure. $75 per person.

Sunday

Big Game PJ Brunch

Fans of greasy pizza and saucy wings consider Super Bowl Sunday a national holiday. Reinvent the day’s rulesby kicking off the morning at the Big Game PJ Brunch hosted by Summer House Santa Monica. The restaurant isn’t all the way in California, but rather is just a Metro ride away in North Bethesda.

Enjoy breakfast foods, like orange-chocolate chip pancakes or buttermilk biscuit eggs benedict, or use brunch as a pregame for the big game by ordering a Bloody Mary made with housemade mix or a “Kicked Up Kale” brunch cocktail. Come in for brunch sporting pajamas or your favorite team’s jersey to get a gift card to the restaurant.

Summer House Santa Monica, 11825 Grand Park Ave. North, Bethesda, Md. Open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
