Best places for perfect fireworks Instagram posts

This post was written by Hatchet staff writer Max McCrory.

What’s the point of celebrating the Fourth of July without the perfect social media snap? Here are the best places to get your perfect Instagram post Monday:

The Kennedy Center
2700 F St. NW

Every GW student knows that the Kennedy Center has one of the best views of the city, and they have the selfies with the Washington monument in the background prove it. Not only will you get the perfect Fourth of July shot here, but the crowds there will be tame compared to ones on the National Mall. It’s the perfect place to get the timeless Fourth of July shot with backs faced to the camera and fireworks in the sky.

Hains Point on East Potomac Park
14th St. SW

Hains Point is a little gem on the tip of the same peninsula as the Jefferson Memorial that will offer incredible views of the fireworks. It’s a grassy area that would be an ideal study spot during the school year, but on the Fourth it’s transformed into the perfect photo shoot location.

Washington National Cathedral
3101 Wisconsin Ave. NW

The Washington National Cathedral is one of the highest points in D.C., and the hill it sits on will give you a bird’s eye view of the fireworks. It’s also a terrific place to bring a picnic to get a shot of everyone enjoying watermelon while admiring the fireworks above.
