When the inevitable rolls around and it’s time to meet your significant other’s parents, take them for a classy off-campus meal.

Blue Duck Tavern is quiet enough that you’ll be able to maintain a conversation, and is classy enough you might be able to convince them you eat this way all the time.

The menu is certainly on the pricey side, and features seasonal and locally sourced ingredients, of course.

Highlights from the brunch menu include lemon pancakes served with ricotta and chamomile honey for $17 and a crispy chicken biscuit with collard greens, apple butter and a sunny side up egg for $18. Or if you decided to rendezvous later in the day, enjoy the pan-roasted rockfish for $34 or wood oven-fired prime steak for $38 from the dinner menu.

If your meal is going well – no matter the time of day – get the house-made apple pie for $19. The menu says it serves two, but it can easily feed four people. Enjoy the flaky crust and sweet apples to congratulate yourself on a job well done.

Readers’ pick: Blue Duck Tavern
