GW’s Class of 2015 will see the University-wide Commencement ceremony from a different perspective this year.

The Commencement ceremony, which is held on the National Mall, will be held between the Washington Monument and the White House this year, a change from its former location between the Washington Monument and the Capitol Building.

The ceremony, which will take place on May 17, was moved because of a turf restoration and irrigation project taking place between 7th and 14th Streets, said University spokeswoman Maralee Csellar.

“It is a long-standing tradition to hold the University commencement ceremony on the National Mall,” Csellar said in an email.

Tim Cook, the chief executive officer of Apple, will deliver the University-wide Commencement address this year.
