Jeff Jacobs, a carpenter native to Arlington, carves his renowned fan birds out of a single block of wood at Eastern Market on Saturday morning, to the joy of passersby. The birds come out of Eastern European folk art, and require no glue or adhesive to retain their shape once carved.
