Better than a gift card? Cash for student loans

This post was written by Hatchet reporter Tatiana Cirisano

Here’s an idea for your gift card-buying relatives this holiday season.

Tuition.io, the website that helps you keep track of their loans, also lets your family members chip in cash to relieve your debt.

Gifts can range from $5 to $500 and will be delivered to you in a holiday-themed e-card. You only need to give out your email address for the payments to be added to your loan balance (and to stop receiving unwanted sweaters).

The gift also keeps on giving, racking up an extra 26 percent in savings toward interest.

Just tell your rich uncle to watch out for that 2.9 percent processing fee and 3.5 percent transaction fee.

Tuition.io also recommends student loan gifts for Black Friday, New Years and President’s Day.
