The Hatchet’s FreeFest playlist: dance jams and trance rock

The seats of Merriweather Post Pavilion’s main stage may be of little use during this year’s energizing and dance-heavy Virgin Mobile FreeFest.

The festival line-up promises up-beat sets, with tracks like Robin Thicke’s funk-infused “Blurred Lines” and Icona Pop’s raucous, poppy “Girlfriend” likely to energize crowds. Still, the festival showcases a number of lesser-known performers, like Dublin-based rockers Little Green Cars, whose dense, distorted “The John Wayne” calls to mind the likes of Arcade Fire.

Check out The Hatchet’s FreeFest playlist for a taste of what’s to echo across the Merriweather Post Pavilion stages this September.
