University Police Department officers arrested a student Sunday for assaulting two police officers after he was denied access to the concert in University Yard.
The student was not allowed past the gate because students had already packed the area around the stage, Metropolitan Police Department public information officer Anthony Clay said. The student then rushed at one of the officers and attempted to knock him down.
As the officers tried to arrest him at about 7 p.m., the student resisted arrest and struck another officer in the ear, UPD Chief Kevin Hay said.
Thousands of students lined up as early as 2:30 p.m. to see Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and Walk the Moon play at the annual show.
