A Red Line Metro train fatally struck a passenger at the Farragut North station Tuesday morning.

The individual was hit by a Shady Grove-bound train around 10:56 a.m., according to a Washington Metropolitan Area Transportation Authority release. Red line trains are now single-tracking between Judiciary Square and Dupont Circle.

WMATA spokesman Philip Stewart said Metro Transit Police are reviewing surveillance video and witness reports, and based on the information gathered, the incident has been labeled a suicide.

“It does appear that the individual intentionally placed himself on the track,” Stewart said.

Riders should expect delays due to the single-tracking, according to the release. The station is still open.
