A California-based contractor received a $9.6 million contract Wednesday to repair the Washington Monument, damaged last summer by a 5.9 magnitude earthquake.

Tutor Perini Management Services Group will complete two months of pre-construction followed by four-to-six months of scaffolding on the entire 555-foot structure, according to The Washington Post.

The National Park Service, which selected the contractor, declined to give a timeline for the project’s completion, but officials said in July the monument could be closed until 2014.

The landmark has not undergone renovations since 2002.
