Profile on Style

Profile on Style is a weekly post that explores the motivations behind GW’s fashion trends. We’ll show you the most interesting aspects of GW style, and then try to make some sense of it all. Keep your eyes open for a reporter and photographer walking around, because you might become the latest trendsetter.

This post was written by Hatchet reporter Elizabeth Mullen.

Fon Tipanun Bisalbutr. Michael Boosalis | Hatchet Photographer

Name: Fon Tipanun Bisalbutr
Class: 2015
Hometown: Bangkok
Major: International Affairs
Outfit: shirt, street vendor in Thailand; jeans, Guess; bag, Zara; shoes, Aldo

Fon was spotted outside Gelman Library looking chic and pulled together in a dark brown top and blush pink jeans. She seemed ready to herald autumn in with her muted color palette and healed Oxford-style shoes. Her chiffon top added just a touch of romance. Her instinctual brand mixing seems to reflect an array of influences; she wears pieces from Thai street vendors and mainstream American stores and pulls it off brilliantly.

Mazen Kassem. Michael Boosalis | Hatchet Photographer

Name: Mazen Kassem
Class: 2015
Hometown: Jos, Nigeria
Major: Systems Engineering
Outfit: jeans, T-shirt, Zara; shoes, Pull and Bear

Mazen hit the town Friday evening in a pair of charcoal grey skinny jeans, a graphic T-shirt and classic, yet versatile black shoes. The pop of bright color against his white T-shirt makes a vibrant, playful statement to counter the subdued tones of the rest of his outfit. The balance between dark and bright in his ensemble keeps Mazem looking both sophisticated and fun, and the overall look is still youthful and fresh.

Alli Schlossberg. Michael Boosalis | Hatchet Photographer

Name: Alli Schlossberg
Class: 2015
Hometown: Baltimore
Major: International Affairs
Outfit: dress, Nordstrom; shoes, Steve Madden

We found Alli taking advantage of the lingering summer weather in a colorful floral mullet dress. She paired the trendy strapless number with simple metallic sandals to create a flirty look that can easily transition from daytime to evening and nighttime.  Alli insists she isn’t particularly stylish, but this outfit proves she definitely knows how to pull together a summer outfit that is all at once effortless, comfortable and fashion-forward.
