Profile on Style

Profile on Style is a weekly post that explores the motivations behind GW’s fashion trends. We’ll show you the most interesting aspects of GW style, and then try to make some sense of it all. Keep your eyes open for a reporter and photographer walking around, because you might become the latest trendsetter.

Gabbi Angeloni. Carly Lisnow | Hatchet Photographer

Name: Gabbi Angeloni
Year: Senior
Major: History
Hometown: San Antonio
Clothes: shoes, Jack Rogers; jeans, Madewell; sweater, Lilly Pulitzer

Gabbi adds some warmth to a chilly fall day with her playful, brightly-printed, patterned Pulitzer top. Her dark jeans act as a balance to her colorful top, while her muted bag ensures the ensemble isn’t too loud or overpowered by color. Gabbi says her biggest style influences are ease and accessibility, but that doesn’t mean she has to sacrifice elegance: this eye-catching look captures both of Gabbi’s fashion requirements and proves forward thinking.

Miranda Houchins. Carly Lisnow | Hatchet Photographer

Name: Miranda Houchins
Year: Freshman
Major: Undecided
Hometown: Mount Pocono, Pa.
Clothes: dress, Band of Gypsies; belt, Charlotte Russe; shoes, H&M; glasses, Forever 21

Miranda takes a playful designer piece, like her polka-dotted dress, and mixes it with stylish, yet affordable accessories. The Pennsylvania native is influenced by classic and vintage styles, but fuses these inspirations and contemporizes with her modern shoes and glasses. Her belt, adorned with a lace trim, fits right in with the lace fascination of the season. Letting her loose locks down, Miranda keeps the dressy look casual and comfortable.

Jamie Fisher-Hertz. Carly Lisnow | Hatchet Photographer

Name: Jamie Fisher-Hertz
Year: Junior
Major: International Affairs
Hometown: Amherst, Mass.
Clothes: bag, Steve Madden; ring, Aldo; shoes, Nine West; shirts, necklace, Urban Outfitters

Jamie takes a cue from the bright, sunny weather with this ensemble. The junior flaunts the color blocking trend with her two vibrant, contrasting tops. Bringing in the lace trend yet again, Jamie claims that she loves layering, so incorporating multiple bright colors into her daily look is a cinch. The cuffed capri pants are a versatile addition to any wardrobe, and Jamie’s shoes add a touch of comfort and practicality to the fashion-forward outfit.
