Riders will need to factor more than 20 minutes extra into travels this weekend as the entire Metro rail system, including the Foggy Bottom station, faces steep delays.
Track work on the Orange, Blue, Red and Green lines will begin at 10 p.m. Friday and continue until closure Sunday, according to a release from the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority.
Red line riders will need to tack on an extra 30 minutes to their trips due to delays, while Green line riders should account for 10 more minutes.
Trains will run across a single track between a handful of stops along the four lines, producing the lags as Metro makes structural repairs including leak and drainage fixes. The construction is part of a $5.7 billion project to renovate the transit system.
The Yellow line will only service passengers between Huntington and Mount Vernon Square. The Bethesda and Medical Center stops on the Red line will entirely shut down over the weekend.
