The Embassy of Italy will host a sendoff for the men’s basketball team Aug. 8, as the Colonials prepare to embark on a five-game ambassadorial tour through Italy.

For $50 dollars a person, fans can attend the reception, where they will have the chance to participate in a meet-and-greet with GW’s roster, including its newest recruits. Athletic director Patrick Nero and men’s basketball head coach Mike Lonergan will also be in attendance.

Those at the reception will also get a chance to see the Colonials show off their speaking skills, according to a University release. The players “will showcase their skills at speaking Italian and knowledge of the culture after sitting through a trio of educational sessions this summer,” the press release said.
