Men’s golf senior Andres Pumareiga will compete in the U.S. Open Sectional Qualifier tomorrow, looking to earn a spot in the 112th U.S. Open Championship.

Pumariega will tee off at 8:25 a.m. at the Black Diamond Ranch Quarry Golf Course in Lecanto, Fla., competing among a field of 58 golfers in the one-day, 36-hole event. Sectional competition will take place at 13 sites. The qualifying slots at each competition site will be determined by that respective competition’s numbers and strength.

Pumariega helped GW to its first-ever A-10 championship this season with a school-record 36-hole score of 8-under par 568, placing second in the field of 55 golfers. From there, Pumariega and the Colonials advanced to NCAA regional competition, where they finished 13th.
