Road damage blocks traffic on 22nd Street

Traffic was blocked from entering the 22nd Street between H and I streets Wednesday because of road damage.

The four-by-five foot hole on the block appeared yesterday, University spokeswoman Michelle Sherrard said.

The road closure could last up to two days as the D.C. Water and Sewage Authority investigates the water lines and sewers in the area, said a District Department of Transportation worker, who asked his name be withheld because he is not authorized to speak to media.

About six workers from the District Department of Transportation were on campus examining the damage. A worker from the D.C. Water and Sewage Authority arrived before noon.
