Senior Stephen Oswald is the 2012 winner of the Jackie Robinson Award, an honor bestowed by the University’s Jackie Robinson Society to a recipient who exhibits “qualities that reflect the attributes” of the late baseball player, according to a release.

Oswald was given the annual award prior to the Colonials’ contest against St. Bonaventure Saturday. The Richmond, Va., native has been a four-year starter for GW. Head coach Steve Mrowka said in the release that the outfielder is “a team leader in every sense of the word.”

Recent winners of the award include former Colonial pitchers Bobby Lucas, Jr., and Tommy Gately.
