    Check out the street festival and fireworks at Freedom Plaza in honor of Emancipation Day. The celebration is free and lasts from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. today.

  • See William Shakespeare’s “The Taming of the Shrew” at Lansburgh Theatre at 8 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, with another 2 p.m. performance on Saturday. Students pay $25.
