Freedom Plaza. Photo courtesy of Matt Bisanz under the Creative Commons License Check out the street festival and fireworks at Freedom Plaza in honor of Emancipation Day. The celebration is free and lasts from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. today.
- See William Shakespeare’s “The Taming of the Shrew” at Lansburgh Theatre at 8 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, with another 2 p.m. performance on Saturday. Students pay $25.
