Freshman Jack Persons is the Atlantic 10 Men’s Golf Rookie of the Week, following the Colonials’ fourth place finish at the Jacksonville State-hosted Grub Mart Intercollegiate Invitational Tuesday.

It’s the third Atlantic 10 honor this season for Persons, who earned A-10 rookie and performer of the week nods in October, after setting two new GW program records.

Persons shot a three-round score of 14-over 230 over the week’s play, finishing in a tie for 14th out of 50 golfers at the par-72 Silver Lakes Golf Course. His best round was Tuesday, when he fired a 2-over 74 to help GW finish fourth of nine teams. He sat in a tie for 22nd place through 36 holes Monday, after shooting back-to-back scores of 6-over 78, but his final round pushed him up the leaderboard to Persons’ final finish.

Persons and the Colonials began competition at the two-day Longwood/Manor Intercollegiate tournament today.
