Men’s golf team finishes fourth at Jacksonville Invitational

The men’s golf team finished fourth of nine teams at the Jacksonville State Invitational Tuesday, tallying a three-round score of 61-over par 925.

GW’s final 18 holes was its best, shooting a 17-over 305 at the par-72, 7,040-yard Silver Lakes Golf Course. Senior Martin Liu led the Colonials with an 11-over 227, finishing seventh overall, including a 2-over 74 on Tuesday to move up to his eventual finish after wrapping Monday’s competition in 14th place. Freshman Jack Persons also fired a 2-over 74 Tuesday, finishing 14th overall, while senior Andres Pumariega shot a 6-over 78 Tuesday to finish in a tie for 19th.

Jacksonville State claimed the top spot at the Invitational, shooting a 33-over 897 through 54 holes of play.

The Colonials next head to Farmville, Va., Friday for the Longwood/Manor Intercollegiate.
